Mission & History

Part of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Casa del Carmen has served the Latino community of North Philadelphia since 1954. The mission of Catholic Social Services is to continue the work of Jesus by affirming, assisting, and advocating for individuals, families, and communities.

We understand the unique needs of families searching for high quality preschool programs in North Philadelphia. Our bilingual staff help ensure the needs of our children and parents are understood and met.

Safe Environment

Casa Del Carmen is an approved Safe Environment school. All staff are thoroughly vetted with background checks and must meet educational guidelines set by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our staff also go through a rigorous training and education program to ensure our program offerings maintain a high level of quality.

Extra Resources for Families

We encourage our parents and family members to be involved in all programs at Casa del Carmen. Through our Family Service Center, we offer parent programs, nutrition classes, emergency food and clothing support, a benefits access program, and English as a Second Language classes. Our Parent Educators also offer Abriendo Puertas, a program that helps parents learn the intricacies of the school system and become advocates for their children’s education.
